Hi! I’m so happy you’re here. Welcome to my first newsletter. Blank pages are daunting. Where do I begin? What do I share? What should I hold back?
I know that most of you are here for commissioned art and I am so thankful for that. I’m also going to share little bits of me as well, things I’m thinking about, experimenting with or enjoying.
If you’re just here for the art I wanted to let you know that I opened up 5 spots for commissions here on my shop page.
After you make your purchase I will reach out to you via e-mail for reference images and direction. You will have one round of revisions, there are always little things I don't notice from photos that other people do. Like, “her hair color is a little lighter, could you fix that?” or, “he's really sensitive about his ears, could you do this thing to make them look this other way” etc. After that I will print your picture at 8''x8'' and mail it to you.
I also promised I would share my favorite newsletters that I subscribe to. If you’re a newsletter junkie you’ve probably already heard of most of these, but they are still the ones that I open and read through weekly. I hope you like them! Send me some of your recs, I would love to hear what you’re reading!
Claire and Erica : The lovely ladies behind the now long gone brand Of A Kind have been showing up in my inbox for years. They each share 5 things they are loving that week whether it be products, articles or recipes.
Caroline Donofrio : Caroline’s newsletter always feels like a balm. I love her writing. It’s usually musings on her life and the things she’s thinking about. Love love love all of it.
Austin Kleon : Austin shares his 10 favorite things every week and he is a whiz with nonfiction book recs, what he’s listening to, and thinks he’s thinking.
Girls Night In : This is is a self care newsletter filled mostly with product and recipe recommendations. They bill themselves as a newsletter for downtime.
Carson Ellis : Carson is my favorite children’s book author and illustrator. She just recently started her newsletter and you get moments of her on her farm, insight into her process, and bits and bobs she’s working on.
Gloria : Gloria is a weekly newsletter for women who aren't yet old, but aren't still young. It's for women embarking on midlife and those who are curious about what the future holds.
