Things that made my week
I made this morning glory breakfast cake recipe from Smitten Kitchen and it was delicious. You need to shred an apple and carrot, but it’s worth bringing out the food processor.
I watched this video from surface designer Bonnie Christine interviewing 60 artists and ways they make money from their art. I found it really encouraging and interesting. There were lots of folks selling things on spoonflower, teaching, and licensing their artwork. I also took note of a bunch of the artists and bookmarked the courses they teach on skillshare. (found via illustrator Charly Clements who has a great newsletter and skillshare classes)
We started watching Shrinking on Apple TV and it is really funny.
I also want to see Fire of Love about the life of two french volcanologists and their love story. It appears to be streaming on Disney+.
I restocked my little shop with new posters and commission spots. The new commission spots are $100 for me to draw anything you want.
This week’s little art piece is of Karen Carpenter because I just finished listening to part two of the “you’re wrong about” podcast discussing her life and tragic death.
I resolved my large outstanding medical bill this week! I have my biopsy tomorrow, and I’m feeling very hopeful that I’m fine and will be glad to have it all over with. My ultrasound last week just said, “yes, you have a lump”. My aunt said she and my cousin had dealt with something similar and it was fine. I think I’m just lumpy. But going through even minor health issues really does make you stop and think and go down existential rabbit holes. I’m thankful that I have a doctor that I like and trust, I’m thankful for Jason and Elliott and friends that care about me!
Thanks for being here!
