The Good Stuff
I can’t wait to watch “A Story of Home”. I have been following Tara’s journey since college and seeing this show come out feels like the thing she was destined for. Tara was a year ahead of me in the same art program I attended. She is wildly charasmatic and has a razor sharp wit. Following her meandering journey and seeing her incredible design work evolve has been inspiring to me. I remember after she graduated one of our professors shared that she had gotten an administrative job at an ad agency and they promoted her to a copywriter after she sent out entertaining e-mails (Tara is this true?). I remember running into her when she was waiting tables in center city and she was also a part of some singing ensemble after her college acapella group days. I remember when Tara and Percy’s rowhome was first featured on the design sponge blog, and running into them slinging vintage wares at the Brimfield flea market. Next came the design jobs, the first where they moved into some family’s vacation home in the Catskills and totally renovated the place while living there. Then the hotels and the online plaster workshops. The whole time, you’re like WHEN ARE THEY GOING TO GIVE THESE TWO A TV SHOW?! And now they have one, a decade later. I don’t have the magnolia network, so I’m going to buy it from google play to watch this weekend. I am cheering for you two Jersey Ice Cream Co. Tara and Percy you are incredible and this show was hard earned, thank you for sharing your journey.
Other things:
I made a couple commissioned portraits that I love. There are still a few spots available in my shop if you’d like one for yourself.
My husband has his design work on display at the Grounds for Sculpture, and it’s really fun. The installation is called Night Forms, and he worked with Klip Collective to design trippy graphics that are projected all over the grounds.
I found this sweet coverlet in a thrift store for $15. My grandfather had one like it in his guest bedroom, and when I posted a picture on instagram a lot of folks commented that their grandparents had the same bedspread. I did a little googling and found that the company that made it is in Maine and is still producing these beautiful blankets. It made me so happy to learn more about its history.
That’s all. Have a great weekend. I’m thankful you’re here!
