Slow Starts
I’m slowly getting back into my art making groove. Thank you all so much for purchasing custom illustrations and supporting my work!
Here are some things that have been bringing me joy lately:
I bought this little post card illustrated by Alizee Avice on our trip to Iceland and it is my favorite souvenir. It’s a risograph print and the colors are so good. Making some risograph posters is on my fall to-do list. I’ve started the process a couple of times but setting up the files has overwhelmed me and I gave up. I’m vowing to make it happen!
I’ve been making my home smell like it’s an Earl Grey tea party by diffusing Bergamot oil. I like to buy from Revive because it’s not an MLM. I’m kind of ambivalent about MLMs except for the fact that I don’t really like to talk to anyone when I buy things.
After our trip I’ve been fed all of the travel hacking content on Instagram. I’m going down a rabbit hole of research. This video about google flights has me dreaming about trips and searching for cheap destinations which has replaced my zillow obsession.
I started giving sewing lessons to a couple kids in a skills exchange with another mom. I taught them how to thread a needle, tie a knot, and do a running stitch with this little kit and it was a hit.
A bunch of our friends are out of town this week so I signed Elliott up for his first outschool class at the last minute and I am really impressed.
This is weird but it did make me happy. We have a light at the entry to our house and it has a bulb that comes on when it’s dark and goes off when the sun comes up. I noticed it went out and then realized I bought the bulb 4 years ago and I still had the backup bulb! Friends these bulbs will have lasted me nearly a decade by the time I need to buy more.
I could go on and on and on, but I will spare you. This newsletter is a work in progress. Thank you for being here while I figure out what it wants to be.
