Learning Curve
I mentioned in my first newsletter that I wanted to learn how to make a risograph print. It’s a technique that some of my favorite artists like Louise Lockhart of the Printed Peanut use. I like it because it’s got a lot of character and it’s inexpensive and accessible art is something I think is important a la the Bread and Puppet manifesto above. The hurdle I was facing was figuring out how to set up the files. It felt daunting and so I have been avoiding it. Finally I watched this skillshare series by Cris Tamay where she broke it down into really simple steps for me. I set up my first print and will send it out next week to be printed. Do I love the artwork I made? I don’t know. Do I love the colors? I don’t know. Will they sell? I have no clue. But I’m walking down the path to learning a new skill and adding this little tool to my toolkit. I’m looking forward to experimenting with it.
Here are some links I’m loving. I hope you’re having a good week.
In love with these marbled feeeeeeelingz t-shirts.
I’m going down a rabbit hole into the V&A crafting archive. Look at this cutie free dress pattern they have!
I am loving Anderson Cooper’s new podcast, and listening to Anderson and Stephen Colbert cry about their grief was really touching and human and will make you feel less alone.
