I have fallen down a rabbit hole of kooky 90s sweaters. The fashion landscape these days has been so drab for so long, so when I stumbled upon these sweaters with bright colors, knit cats and ponies, and bold geometric shapes of Christine Foley my eyeballs got super excited. You can find them for sale on Poshmark and Ebay and they are just a zany delight. If I didn’t have puritanical spending tendencies I would definitely fill my wardrobe with these beauties. They speak to the zany kooky artist lady that lives in my bones. If there’s any truth in the phrase, “dress for the job you want” then these would be a part of my uniform. I found prices ranging from $17 to over $300 for the octopus. I’m not the only one who finds them desirable, but when I searched for Christine Foley on the internet I was really sad that there was so little information to be found. Once you take a look at these treasures you will be astounded that there is nary a wikipedia article to be found on this textile wizard. Who is she, where did she go? Can she please do a collaboration with Anthropologie? This is the only type of investigative reporting I could possibly be propelled to partake in. It does look like she may still have a store, I am tempted to reach out and get answers to these hard hitting questions.
Without further ado, here are the kooky sweaters I’ve been going on about.
First we have this embroidered seaside shell number. It’s giving coastal grandma, it’s giving long spring walks on the beach, a more subtle lily pulitzer situation.
These look like they were just pulled off of Farm Rio’s current Fall line.

I would wear either of these on a Longwood Gardens adventure: TOPIARIIIIEEESSS!

The stoplight buttons on this car sweater is just absolute perfection. Give me this dang sweater please and thank you.
If I were a member at a yacht or country club or had a small private plane or participated in the Westminster Dog Show. There’s something for every occasion.

I love a good geometric pattern. Love Love Love. The bottom left is very Annie Larson
and the bottom right is an Amish quilt reference.

This one is the priciest of the lot at $328
This one’s for all my cat ladies.
This is the cheapest at $17 and one of my favorites. Again, look at the buttons! If I were not on my spending freeze I would totally buy it. If you still need to get me a 40th birthday present it is in my size. Wink Wink.
See what I mean? They are so great. Christine if you’re out there please know that your designs are still making people happy. Your art matters. I would love to hear your story.
That’s all for this week. Sending you all a lot of love. Hope you find some joy.
