Happy Valentine's Day
Did anyone get their valentine?! If you’re open to sharing them on social media I would LOVE to see them. It’s strange to send things out into the world and have no idea where the’ve ended up.
We don’t usually make a big deal about Valentine’s day, but something about making those cards for you folks really got us into the spirit. We made some homemade valentines for one another, I bought a heart shaped frozen pizza from lidl, I painted my nails red and sparkly, Jason and I are going to get lunch together, he brought home some flowers, and we’ll dip some pretzels and strawberries in melted chocolate tonight for dessert. It feels really good to celebrate our love for one another. We’re really leaning into it.
I made this little tutorial if you want to make a card for someone that you love. Fill it will some encouraging words and little doodles if you want to make someone’s day.
Hope you are able to find some joy in this day. Sending you lots of love on a day that can feel really lonely.
THINGS WORTH SHARING
Big thanks to Donna for buying some prints this week! It makes me so happy to think about my art in folks homes. Do you have something that I made hanging in your house? I’d love to see it!
My friend Sarah is speaking at next Friday’s Creative Mornings. I read her bio and was newly impressed by her credentials. Sarah makes awesome music started her own music ed publishing company Fflat books and is everyone’s biggest creative cheerleader. I’m going to go hear her speak!
I’m a big fan of the textile art Adam Pogue makes and these pillows for Commune are just gorgeous.
I finally finished my Meal Planner journal that I made. It’s lasted me over a year. It’s got a place to write your grocery list on one side and plan your meals on the other. It’s something I don’t go to the grocery store without. For some reason amazon has them on sale for $4?! I don’t know how that works but you should grab one. I use Amazon’s print on demand service to have them made, and I’d love to update them this year.
I’m working on designs for my Art Show in April (!!!). I’ve been very inspired by this vintage kids book “A Trip to the Yard”. It makes the ordinary feel really extraordinary. We live in the city and have a tiny yard and have to venture to parks to get our nature fill, so it feels even more precious to me. An opossum did join me for part of my walk last night though, so maybe there’s more nature around us than I think there is.
