Beauty Bathing
A trip to Chanticleer: A Pleasure Garden
I had never heard of Chanticleer Garden before my friends Lydia and Anna invited me to meetup there. I wasn’t expecting anything more than a good hang. What I got instead was 31 acres of the most beautiful gardens I had ever seen.
There were paths meandering through the woods where we would stop every few feet and exclaim, “LOOK AT THAT!” There were ponds and and enormous gazebo covered in the sweetest smelling wisteria. It was like being bathed in beauty, just wandering around absorbing all the colors. It was incredible. I really think that if Longwood Gardens wasn’t so close by it would have a much larger reputation.
The gardens were created by the Rosengarten family as their city escape in 1912. It’s located in Wayne, PA. In 1993 it was opened to the public with instructions stating that the gardens should evolve. It is tended by 8 head gardeners who get to decide what to do in their assigned section of the garden. It is amazing to see their creativity, passion and hard work on display. It is a treasure!
Monty Don did a tour of Chanticleer for his special on American Gardens if you would like to see more.
Admission is $15 and my only tip is to reserve parking when you buy your tickets.
Here are some photos from our adventure:
Here’s Anna saying “Look at that!” and Lydia being a great friend and wearing her sunshine sweatshirt.
Now I’m craving more beauty bathing! Where should I go next? What else have I been missing out on? lol.
Thanks for being here!
