We walked into the High Spirits show on Saturday about 15 minutes after it started. There was lots of pretty art on the walls, but I didn’t see mine! I wandered around the tiny gallery and then I thought oh maybe it’s in that tiny back room. It wasn’t in the tiny back room, there was no art in the tiny back room. So I stood there awkwardly until Keith let me know that my art had already sold! Both pieces! This was a cash and carry show, so folks just bought stuff off the walls. I was so pumped! Elliott picked out a cool painted cat head sculpture to purchase and we chatted with friends that came out to support me, which was so nice of them! It was a really great time. I was even asked to participate in another upcoming four person show in April with some wildly talented folks. Did this go way better than I ever expected? Yes! What a dream! Thanks for following along on this journey!

All of this feels kinda crazy, maybe you’re thinking, “Haley, this is so great. Did you take a manifestation course or something?”, “Was this on your five year plan?”, “Did you create SMART goals to get here?” To which I would say no absolutely not, I’m not that organized or self disciplined. Honestly doing an art show was not on my radar. I’ve always thought of my work in terms of craft shows, not gallery shows. Isn’t that weird and a little sad? This opportunity came from making work that I like and the generosity of folks that are further along on their art journey supporting other artists. And big thanks to Jason for giving me the time and encouragement to make things. For all of it I’m really grateful and very very excited. Yay for new opportunities! Now I have to get to work!!!
I wanted to continue this joy bonanza by sharing some artwork with you. Would you like a valentine from me? I’ll print and mail you one free of charge all in the name of love. I’m encouraging folks to spread the word and subscribe to my newsletter if they want one. You can fill out the form here. Last year I got a Valentine from artist Noelle Vainikka and it was such a delightful mail day. Things Worth Sharing
Big thanks to my friend Karen who bought a subscription to this lil newsletter! Thank you founding friend!
Reading Tom Lake and it is a delight, just like everyone said. All my library holds came in at once and I’m trying to not let it overwhelm me.
Whenever I write this newsletter I get imposter syndrome and think, “who wants to hear the nonsense in my brain” and then I remember that I want to know the nonsense inside everyone’s brain and jump up and down every time someone I know starts their own newsletter. I just signed up for Jason Page’s newsletter and it’s great. Jason won a design competition in college and worked with us at urban outfitters home department for a bit. Am I remembering that right Jason? Now he’s a fancy shmancy designer living in the Netherlands making magic. He’s got a great brain.
I added another adventure to our year of tiny adventures. I want to go see the Wanamaker organ play at Macy’s and take a tour of the console. It’s the largest playable instrument in the world?! And they employ a Grand Court Organist! That’s someone’s job! We’ve been there during Christmas but I didn’t realize it played every day at noon an 5:30. This coupled with a trip to Beiler’s donuts in Reading Terminal seems like a great tiny adventure.
I saw these pretty new artists residences in Kensington. I have no idea who’s living here, but it’s real pretty.
There’s still some art available from the High Spirits show. I loved this cute pink piece.
